Summary:

Experienced- level Commercial Plumbing Journeyman with ability to perform plumbing commercial or industrial installations with minimal supervision in a high quality and safe manner. Commercial Plumbers install, maintain, and repair water and gas plumbing systems.

This position has been designated as safety sensitive. It is a position that includes tasks and duties that could affect the safety and health of the employee or others. The position requires the employee’s full and unimpaired skills and judgment to safely execute all job responsibilities

The five essential functions of a Journeyman Plumber at Top Choice are:

1. Goals: Set a clearly defined marker of success.
2. Problems: Identify problems honestly.
3. Diagnose: Utilize expertise to identify the root of the problem.
4. Design: Develop a strategic solution to resolve the problem.
5. Do: Execute informed solutions until all goals are met.

Duties:

• Installation of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing components in service, new construction or during renovations. This includes reading blueprints and abiding by code. National and Local codes are the minimum standard.
• Maintenance: conduct routine inspections and maintenance to ensure that plumbing systems are functioning properly.
• Troubleshooting: such as low water pressure, sewer line backups, or water heater malfunctions.
• Emergency Services: such as burst pipes, gas leaks, or sewage backups to minimize downtime and mitigate damage.
• Compliance: ensure that plumbing installations and repairs comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards. This includes obtaining permits when necessary and following best practices for safety and efficiency.
• Collaboration: work closely with other construction professionals, such as contractors, electricians, and HVAC technicians, to coordinate projects and ensure that plumbing systems integrate seamlessly with other building systems.
• Works independently and on a team.
• Provides direction to less experienced plumbers.
• Assists in evaluating and mentoring apprentices.
• Maintains 80% production rate when provided the proper tools, material and equipment.
• Completes 8 hours of continuing education each year.
• Qualifications and Education Requirements.
• Extensive knowledge of plumbing components as well as plumbing safety codes and regulations.
• Professionally, technically, and mechanically proficient.
• Graduate of apprenticeship program and/or completion of 24 hours of continuing education each year.
• Five years experience performing quality plumbing installations in commercial or industrial construction.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of the UPC.
• OSHA 10 Hour Awareness Training (If you do not have OSHA10, Top Choice Plumbing will provide the training at Top Choice’s expense.)
